During the design stage of a Bunnings hardware complex in Sydney's Bankstown, a rainwater re-use system was required for irrigation of the nursery area.
The designers wanted to utilise the rainwater captured from the roofed areas and the Atlantis Rainwater Harvesting system was selected as the best option.
The Atlantis system met all the specific criteria such as the aesthetic qualities of an underground installation, flexible storage capacity options and the strength competency of the system.
Completed in February 2004, a 706ft³ rainwater harvesting tank holding 5283 gal was installed underneath the parking lot.
Rainwater is collected from the roof areas and filtered via Atlantis Filtration Units, removing fine particles and contaminants before entering the underground storage area where optimum conditions for water storage are maintained.
